Summer Solstice
Today is the day of the year that boasts the most daylight hours. Unfortunately, today has been grey and cloudy. Raining in some locations. I hope the weather will cooperate for us the rest of the summer!
The past few days I have been reading a book which I hope will help the class this fall work much more smoothly. I am learning how to provide sensory input to students to help them become more focused on their learning. Using all our senses to help us learn new things can make the learning "stick" more meaningfully.
I also have been looking at the topics we will be learning next school year. I will be working with Mrs. Boudreau and Mrs. Gledhill to develop a literacy plan for the coming year, and working with Mrs. Maxim and Mrs. Philbrook on the math plan. Math will be taught using the EveryDay Math program, for the most part, with focus standards being pulled from the curriculum. We will be looking at the Common Core State Standards as well as the literacy agreements to build a comprehensive reading and writing program for the upcoming year.
School this year will be amazing! I can't wait to work with my new class.
